When buying a house gardens are now the top priority for Brits after being in lockdown, research from personal finance comparison website finder.com has found.
One in three (33%) potential buyers said the garden and the size of the outdoor space was their top priority.
The size of the property (28%) and parking (24%) are the second and third most important factors.
Matthew Boyle, mortgage expert at finder.com, said: “Since lockdown outdoor space has become a bigger priority for many Brit’s. This has meant that many of those who live in flats or in cities are looking to move into properties with better outdoor provisions.
“Some have even relocated to the countryside where there is more space and these results show this. This trend will likely continue especially due to concerns around a second wave.”
In terms of generation, millennials (27%), gen x (35%), boomers (40%) and the silent generation (31%) said outdoor space was the most important factor for them.
