Foxtons speaks up for virtual tours in helping lettings and sales

Foxtons says it staged 300,000 virtual viewings last year as the pandemic’s lockdowns and temporary market closure severely restricted physical viewings.

Chief operating officer Patrick Franco says: “Technology has always been at the heart of our service and with Covid-19 challenging the industry to adapt to new ways of working, virtual tours are now key.

“Last year, our website remotely opened the door to over 300,000 virtual property tours, helping maximise exposure of clients’ properties and also keeping Londoners safe by providing an alternative to in-person viewings.

“We believe exceptional estate agency service involves the right balance of expert people and leading technology.”

Franco was cited by one virtual viewings supplier, Spec, which claims that it saw a near 10-fold increase in the use of its product across a range of agencies including Foxtons.

The company says its tours were viewed some 8,000 times in January 2020 but almost 80,000 times last month.

It claims that in addition to allowing viewings to take place during the Coronavirus restrictions, the virtual viewings lead to over 400m miles of driving being avoided, with consequential pollution benefits.
