Costain’s chief digital officer leaves

Costain’s chief digital officer has left the company after a year and a half with the contractor.

Nathan Marsh was appointed as the firm’s first ever chief digital officer in October 2019 to help deliver digital services and solutions for its clients. He had formerly served as director for digital transformation in the UK and Europe for Atkins, where he had spent three years.

A spokeswoman for Costain said a new leader for the business’s digital operations had not yet been appointed: “We remain committed to our digital operations and our aspirations and objectives remain unchanged. We have a strong and empowered team who will continue to deliver digital solutions to enable smarter infrastructure programmes for our clients,” she added.

Costain has further diversified from traditional contracting work in recent years. Chief executive Alex Vaughan recently told Construction News that consulting work was a growing part of the business, which could account for more than half of the firm’s operating profit in the next few years.
